A penny
Give a penny take a penny I assume
A penny for my thoughts
A penny for my love
A penny for my pain
Are they all worth the same?
A penny for my lust
A penny for my trust
A penny for my patience
Do they all feel the same
Grasped in your hand?
Or do you just scatter them like seeds
Knowing 6 more will appear
Like ghosts they do
From nowhere
A penny from you would do
and make my dreams come true
Ha, I do laugh
A Idealist Romantic I am
I shove 6 pennies into the fountain
and get not one out
It must be broken I say
I'll come back another day
It will be fixed by then
Penny after penny I shove
only expecting one to come out
I sit in front of the fountain
Just praying it comes out
A single penny
A penny from the heart
But it never comes
I still go to the fountain
Sit on its edge
It helps me numb myself
from the monotony I live
Every week I get enough courage
To throw in another penny
Give a penny take a penny
I assume
I still go back there, It is all I need and nothing less
Every night I place a penny lovingly into the fountain
Give a penny take a penny
Maybe one day I'll find it
A lonely penny, sitting on the edge
I won't touch it, I'll just cry
For seeing it is all I need
